Drum Corps International (DCI) and the Cavalcade of Bands (CBA) has partnered in a new venture to get more CBA students to DCI East in Allentown for the weekend of August 2nd and 3rd.
The Ambassador Program puts a student from each CBA band in the spotlight as the band leader. He or she will receive a packet from DCI soon after signing up and will act as the liaison. This person will take ticket orders for DCI East and receive possible discounts in the process.
The band director does not need to be involved. A drum major, section leader, percussion captain, guard captain or anyone from the CBA band can hold this position for the next year.
The Ambassador program is free to join, and those interested can register on the CBA website on the 'Marching' page to be part of it. DCI will mail an exclusive packet of supplies and information including posters, flyers, decals and more. Several of these items can be customized to the DCI East event near the Ambassadors hometown. Posters and flyers can also be downloaded online for printing at home or school.

The Reading Buccaneers Drum & Bugle Corps and the Twin Valley High School Band will host the 9TH ANNUAL SPRING PREVIEW, A DRUM & BUGLE CORPS CONCERT, on SATURDAY, MAY 11, 2013, at 7:00 P.M. The concert will take place in the Twin Valley High School auditorium, 4897 S. Twin Valley Road, Elverson, PA 19520.
The Spring Preview has become a much-anticipated mainstay of the indoor drum and bugle corps concert calendar and features some of the world’s best all-age competing and alumni corps in exhibition. The concert’s proceeds will benefit the Twin Valley High School band program and the Reading Buccaneers.
The concert will be the public’s first opportunity to hear the hometown and defending Drum Corps Associates world champion Reading Buccaneers, as the corps unveils its 2013 music program: HIGHER, FASTER, STRONGER. The corps’ repertoire includes _Symphony No. 11, Mvt. IV_, by Dmitri Shostakovich, original music by designers Mark Lortz, Johnny Trujillo and Greg Tsalikis, _Chevaliers de Sangreal_ from “The DaVinci Code,” by Hans Zimmer, and _Danse Bacchanale_, from “Samson and Delilah,” by Camille Saint-Saens.
In addition to the Buccaneers, guests will be treated to performances by Fusion Core (Morris County, NJ), the Blessed Sacrament Golden Knights (Newark, NJ), Selden Cadets (Selden, Long Island, NY), Reilly Raiders (Willow Grove, PA), New York Skyliners Alumni (New York, NY) and the Reading Buccaneers Alumni (Reading, PA).
In addition to the concert, the day presents a unique opportunity for drum corps aficionados to meet members from multiple corps and reconnect with old friends and many activity luminaries.
Reserved seats are $15 apiece, and general admission seats are $13 apiece, and will be sold at the door. CAVALCADE CHAMPIONSHIP PATCH CONTEST
Cavalcade is once again holding a 2013 Marching Band Championship patch contest. This is open to any student that is a member of a high school that will be participating in the 2013 Cavalcade Championship in Hershey, PA or Millersville, PA. Students do not necessarily need to be a member of the band.
Deadline for submission is TUESDAY, APRIL 30, 2013. Entries must be sent to:

The 3 inch patch may be up to three colors and have the words “CAVALCADE OF BANDS CHAMPIONSHIP 2013” placed on the patch. Submissions will not be mailed back to the designer.
A $100 prize will be presented to the winner at the Hershey Championship on Nov. 12 or 13.

Marching band contests are held each weekend throughout the fall, concluding in four championship classification contests, which are held at the end of the marching season. Each show usually consists of seven to twelve bands in one or more of the four classifications. Classifications are based on total unit size.
Cavalcade is proud to be one of the first marching associations to use digital recorders for all marching shows!
