Kickstart your fall planning with the Winter Design Summit sponsored by Cavalcade of Bands & Keystone Indoor Drill Association! This exciting new event, taking place on Sunday, February 2nd, is designed for all directors, staff, and designers.

When: Sunday, February 2nd, 10:00am - 3:00pm

Where: Exeter Township HS, 201 E 37th St, Reading, PA 19606

With guidance from leaders in the activity, the summit offers ideas and strategies to:

  • Build effective recruitment and retention strategies.

  • Explore rehearsal tools and techniques for directors, staff, percussion, and guard.

  • Gain fresh ideas for designing impactful programs.

  • Hear from Scott Koter, our Keynote Speaker!

 

This summit will be bringing together our community of passionate educators and designers, creating a space to exchange ideas, develop skills, and prepare for a successful season.

Schedule & Registration Details

10:00am-11:15am: Keynote Session w/ Scott Koter

11:15-12:15pm: Session Choice between Recruitment/Retention (Tenaglia/Santanello) OR Color Guard Strategies for the Band Director (McKenney)

12:15-1:00pm: Lunch (Provided for all participants)

1:00-2:00pm: Session Choice between Ensemble Rehearsal Strategies (McAdams) & Planning Session OR Percussion Strategies for the Band Director (Carraher)
2:00pm-3:00pm: Closing Keynote Session w/ Scott Koter

 

Registration Fees are as follows:

$40 / Person for current CBA/KIDA members

$60 / Person for non members

 

$175 / Team of 5 staff from one CBA/KIDA member school of either circuit

$250 / Team of 5 staff from a non member school of either circuit

Scott Koter

 DCI Hall of Fame

Fannin Musical Productions Designer

Scott Koter retired as assistant superintendent for the Kiski Area SD, Vandergrift, PA, and previously served as a principal and band director in the same district beginning in 1983.  As director, his ensembles received numerous honors including appearances at the Midwest Clinic, MENC, IAJE and PMEA conventions and captured numerous state and BOA regional titles while being named BOA Grand National finalist seven times and a Grand National class champion two times.     

  

Scott served as program coordinator for the Santa Clara Vanguard of Santa Clara, CA and The Cavaliers of Rosemont, IL.  His groups won six DCI world championships and a total of 15 top three finishes during that time.  He presently serves as a designer for Fannin Musical Productions and as an educational consultant for Innovative Percussion Inc.  He is a clinician, adjudicator, guest conductor and designer for numerous schools and organizations around the world and is a member of the DCI and PFCJ Hall of Fame.
