Indoor Judges
Adair, DaleActive since 1980 judging indoor and outdoor percussion captions for various organizations. Teaching Experience: Began teaching percussion in 1979 with various drum corps programs including the PAL Cadets, Crossmen, Madison Scouts, Archer Epler Musketeers, NY Skyliners, Reilly Raiders Alumni Corps. Have also been the percussion arranger/instructor for several high school bands including Bensalem HS, Hammonton HS, Archbishop Ryan HS, Father Judge HS, Haverford HS, Eastern HS, and Neshaminy HS. Dale has been judging at various times since 1979 as a member of Cavalcade Judging Association, judging percussion for both outdoor and indoor percussion programs.
Kilian, Chris
Chris Kilian has been actively involved in the marching arts since 1991 as a performer, designer, and instructor. Chris is the current staff coordinator and brass caption head for the Bushwackers Drum and Bugle Corps (DCA) and the program coordinator and brass arranger for the Blue Saints Drum & Bugle Corps (DCI).Chris is an active clinician, composer, and arranger for bands and drum corps around the country. He is the founder of C.E. Kilian Designs, a member of ASCAP, and the president of Cadence Artistic Group, a company that produces educational media and resources for band students and programs through sites like BandKnowHow.com.
Murray, Bob
Bob has been involved in the marching activity since 1976. Even though he has around the Drum & Bugle Corps activity all his life following in his dads foot steps as a marching member and administrator. Bob has marched with the West Paterson Royal Aires, Dynamic Royal Aires and the majority of his marching career with the Hawthorne Caballeros competing corps as well as Alumni. He was also a member of the 1992 & 1994 Summer Music Game All Star Drum & Bugle Corps that perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. During his marching years Bob has been involved on the visual staffs the Oakland Rangers Drum & Bugle Corps as well as Phoenix Drum & Bugle Corps. Bob has all worked on the visual teams of the following High School bands Parsippany Hills, Elmwood Park and Weehawken as well as doing consulting work in the visual caption. He has also instructed and been on the administration staff of the following winter guard programs, Oakland Rangers, Parsippany Patriots, Innuendo, Parsippany Hills HS, and Elmwood Park HS. He is currently on the visual staff of the Bayonne Bridgemen Drum & Bugle Corps. Bob is a Lead software Engineer and currently resides in Roxbury, NJ with his wife and twin girl and boy.
O'Shea, Pat
Pat O'Shea is a teacher, musician and writer in the Philadelphia area. He teaches percussion at Kennedy Kenrick HS, St. Aloysius, Saint Helena's, and Cardinal O’Hara HS. He has been working with high school drumlines since 1989 and has been judging for Cavalcade since 2006. He received his B.A. Degree in Music from Slippery Rock University in 1994. Pat marched snare drum in a competitive high school and in a corps style college drumline. He currently performs with Philadelphia Fife and Drum in the Independence Hall area. Pat is a freelance drumset performer and has played for many jazz bands, rock bands and musicals in Philly and Atlantic City. He has also written articles for Modern Drummer Magazine and the Percussive Arts Society.
Smith, Paul
Paul Smith is a graduate of North Penn High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he holds BFA degree in percussion. His marching experience includes the North Penn and IUP marching bands along with the Bux-Mont Raiders and Crossmen junior drum and bugle corps. He began teaching marching percussion in 1977 and has over 24 years of arranging and teaching a variety of marching and concert percussion ensembles along with several drum and bugle corps. He is a member of the Montgomery County Concert Band, Pottstown Symphony Orchestra and also performs regularly at The First Presbyterian Church in Pottstown, as well with other ensembles in the area. Judging pageantry arts began in 1983 and continues through today. His judging affiliations include the Cavalcade of Bands, Cavalcade Indoor Drill Association, Mid Atlantic Percussion Society, Indiana Percussion Association, Atlantic Indoor Association and the Southern California Percussion Alliance. Paul works for the JW Pepper Sheet Music Company in Paoli, PA as there Vice President of Communications, Percussion Editor and National Conventions Coordinator. He is published through both Alfred Publishing and Honeyrock Publishing. He currently resides in Pottstown, Pa with his wife and two college age children. Paul is currently the 2010/2011 Judging Coordinator for the Cavalcade of Bands.
